I’m not a big fan of the side-opening luggage on the V85 TT Travel because as soon as you open them, everything falls out. There is a better way to use them though – treat them as final destination suitcases. This setup might just get the best out of them.
If you’ve got the Moto Guzzi V85TT and youre thinking of touring, or motocamping, or even if you’re looking for a motorcycle that might work for you on a longer tour, take a look at this setup.
I’ve paired the V85TT travel with a SW Motech Pro Cargo Bag and added a tent bag on top for some real flexibility.
The soft bags unstrap in a minute and give you a hotel overnight bag, while the locked-on and locked-up luggage keeps your camping and tools secure. Importantly, they stay closed until you reach your destination.
My plan is to put all the camping gear in the 37 liter right-hand of the two panniers and to put tools, food and first-aid in the other.
The soft luggage will contain all my clothes (and dirty clothes), bathroom kit, wet weather gear (easy access side pouches), A/V equipment and day equipment. Money, passports and cards will be on my body in a very light waterproof rucksack.
Total capacity. 130 liters.
- Luggage: 66 liters (37 + 29)
- SW Motech Pro Cargo Bag: 50 liters
- SW Motech Pro Tent Bag: 18 liters
Do you really need the tent bag? Probably not but it it’s a good pace for dirty or wet clothes, rubbish or just water and day food.
I’ve even put a secret collapsible stool under the cargo bag! It’s one of my luxury items!
