Live Podcast Friday. (If You’re Quick!)

I just wanted to drop you all a note to let you know we’ll be doing a MeetMobility podcast in a few hours. At 1200 GMT+1 on Meetbobility.com/live you’ll find Sascha, JKK and myself talking our usual mobile computing talk with a focus on what happened (or didn’t!) at CeBIT. We guess you guys in the US are still going to be tucked up in bed but don’t worry, it will be recorded and will probably be available by the time you hit that power button. (The reason we have to do it so early is because it’s late in Taipei and that’s where Sascha is.)

Following our podcast and dovetailing in very nicely is the Mobile Tech Roundup Podcast. James, Kevin and Matt will be doing their first live podcast a few hours after us at 0800 Central time (1400 GMT+1) You can catch these guys at UStream.Tv/channel/mobiletechroundup

Following on from the great successes of the MeetMobility events at CES and Mobile World Congress this year, Meet:Mobility will be testing out something new for CeBIT.

From Monday, press day at CeBIT, the team plan to bring you reports every two hours, on the hour from midday to midnight (Hannover time, GMT+1) for 5-15mins to try and keep you updated on the latest Mobile Computing news.

JKK of JKKMobile and Sascha of Netbooknews will be on the floor and Chippy (of Carrypad) will be in the studio trying to summarise the incoming news. We’ll have call-ins from the team and we’ll also be testing out live reporting, including video, from the floor. Expect a few guests too.

We’ll be announcing each summary broadcast and anything extra-ordinary through the @meetmobility twitter channel so make sure you follow that to keep up with the latest schedule. All videos will appear in the homepage so you can catch up on the latest at any time.

Podcast 26. CeBIT 2009 Roundup and Awards.

We’re back, safe and sound, from CeBIT 2009 and we’ve got a lot to talk about. In this 1hr 15min podcast we cover the mobile computing highlights from CeBIT 2009 across the netbook and mobile computing sector. We also talk about how we covered the whole show with nothing but MIDs, netbooks and 3G connectivity. Yup, all the videos, podcast and written content was created on netbooks and UMPCs and uploaded via 3G.

Meetmobility Best of CeBIT Award.

The ‘best of’ award is something we’re going to continue to do when we attend an event and for CeBIT 2009 we’ve decided to make two awards.

Best Manufacturer Award goes to ASUS for continued development around the Eee brand. Design and quality remain high and new usage scenarios are being considered all the time. Expansion out into other product segments makes complete sense and it shows that Asus are not afraid to take risks.

Best Product Award goes to the Novatel Mifi. This fantasticly simple, small and useful battery-powered 3G/Wifi router could find a place in every mobile computing kit bag. We are all looking forward to testing, and buying one!

Actually our first podcast under the MeetMobility banner but our 25th overall and recorded on the 28th of Feb and not the 28th of Jan as I said at the start of the recording! In this podcast we talk about the upcoming CeBIT 2009 event and what we’re planning and expecting. Sascha tells us about his Tawanese adventures and the devices he had hands-on with out there and we go on to talk about CeBIT and the devices we’re expecting to see there.

As mentioned in the show, we’ll be using the CeBIT Mobile Enterprise Arena in Hall 6, Booth J02 (see the map) as our base during CeBIT and coming back there to blog, podcast and catch up on news and liquid intake. If you’re in the area, please drop by and say hello if you see us.

With a big thanks to the CeBIT Mobile Enterprise Arena I’m happy and excited to announce that MeetMobility will have a home at CeBIT. Happy becuase we’ll have somewhere to work our blogs and podcasts and excited because there’s going to be a whole lot of mobile and Web2.0 activity in the area. We’ll be looking forward to meeting as many people as possible. We’re thinking about doing a few podcasts and videocasts there too.

To be honest, i’ll be happy to get out of that library-like press room at CeBIT and hope that Hall 6 becomes the de-facto center point for bloggers, web2.0 and social media types.
