From Monday, press day at CeBIT, the team plan to bring you reports every two hours, on the hour from midday to midnight (Hannover time, GMT+1) for 5-15mins to try and keep you updated on the latest Mobile Computing news.

You can watch live at MeetMobility.com/live

JKK of JKKMobile and Sascha of Netbooknews will be on the floor and Chippy (of Carrypad) will be in the studio trying to summarise the incoming news. We’ll have call-ins from the team and we’ll also be testing out live reporting, including video, from the floor. Expect a few guests too.

We’ll be announcing each summary broadcast and anything extra-ordinary through the @meetmobility twitter channel so make sure you follow that to keep up with the latest schedule. All videos will appear in the homepage so you can catch up on the latest at any time.

Here’s a quick introduction from the studio.

Meet:Mobility Podcast 43 was a great session recorded live at the Intel booth at Mobile World Congress 2010 in front of a live audience. In the 40-minute podcast we talk about some of the best hardware and software aspects of MWC and hook into the money and business aspects of development for mobile software platforms.
The audio version of the podcast, with show notes, will be in the normal channels soon but if you can’t wait for that, here’s the video recording in three parts.

Many thanks to Pages Media (YouTube-Channel : RedaktionPages ) and Software-Dev-Blog for their support in making this video and thanks to the live audience and of course to the Intel Developer Network who made this live session possible.

Podcast 44, a studio-based warm-up to CeBIT is coming in just a few days and the team will also be bringing you mini-podcasts each day from CeBIT as the news breaks.

We have four sessions from MWC to bring you over the next few days including podcast 43 but first we want to share with you the session we have with Intel's Scott Apeland on the Intel Atom Developer Program, AppUp Center and MeeGo.

What a fantastic start to the year we’ve had at Meet Mobility. First we’re live in Vegas at the Runcore booth and then a few weeks later, we’re running four sessions in Barcelona at the Intel booth at Mobile World Congress. I think I can speak for the whole Meet:Mobility team when I say that joining our individual web forces for podcasts and events has been one of most rewarding and exciting things we’ve done. You can guarantee we’ll be organising more of these events and as I write this, Sascha and JKK are trying to organise something for CeBIT next week so stay tuned.

My favorite session at MWC last week was the 30 minutes we spent with Scott Apeland. Scott is Director of Intel’s Developer Network and was able to answer most of our questions on the Intel Atom Developer Program, the AppUp Center Beta and the MeeGo announcement. The session is split into three parts and is included below.

Our podcast, from day 3, will be posted later today.

UMPCs

8.9″ ExoPC slate. “Atom N270 at 1.6GHz, with 2GB of DDR2 memory and a 32GB SSD with SD expansion. Yeah, those specs are familiar too, and while we’re not thinking this will deliver the sort of snappy performance seen on the iPad, it will certainly be a lot more functional. Battery life is only four hours, but at least it’s user-replaceable, and a price of $599 matches the 32GB iPad. Likewise it will be available in March -”
NetbookNavigator – ‘Nav 9′ Similar specs.
Memory 512MB. No 3G version. No right shift key, optical mouse not the best (but way better than nothing) great battery life. $549 good price. N5 March/April.

Other

N900 Firefox/weave release . Plugin, Small screen optimised. Firefox quality. Fast javascript processing. Add-ons. (weave!) but no FLash!

Mozilla pulled it from N900 Firefox release – ““Support for plugins in Firefox for Maemo has been disabled. On most Web pages that use the Adobe Flash plugin, the performance of the plugin didn’t meet our standards, and the interactivity and performance of the entire Web page was negatively impacted.”

Flash. Will it last? Do we need it?
HTML5: Timescale.
Lower power web devices coming.
Developers should take note of rising % of non-flash mobile brwosers.

S10 blade coming.

Events

Events coming up:
