From Monday, press day at CeBIT, the team plan to bring you reports every two hours, on the hour from midday to midnight (Hannover time, GMT+1) for 5-15mins to try and keep you updated on the latest Mobile Computing news.

JKK of JKKMobile and Sascha of Netbooknews will be on the floor and Chippy (of Carrypad) will be in the studio trying to summarise the incoming news. We’ll have call-ins from the team and we’ll also be testing out live reporting, including video, from the floor. Expect a few guests too.

We’ll be announcing each summary broadcast and anything extra-ordinary through the @meetmobility twitter channel so make sure you follow that to keep up with the latest schedule. All videos will appear in the homepage so you can catch up on the latest at any time.

What a fantastic start to the year we’ve had at Meet Mobility. First we’re live in Vegas at the Runcore booth and then a few weeks later, we’re running four sessions in Barcelona at the Intel booth at Mobile World Congress. I think I can speak for the whole Meet:Mobility team when I say that joining our individual web forces for podcasts and events has been one of most rewarding and exciting things we’ve done. You can guarantee we’ll be organising more of these events and as I write this, Sascha and JKK are trying to organise something for CeBIT next week so stay tuned.

My favorite session at MWC last week was the 30 minutes we spent with Scott Apeland. Scott is Director of Intel’s Developer Network and was able to answer most of our questions on the Intel Atom Developer Program, the AppUp Center Beta and the MeeGo announcement. The session is split into three parts and is included below.

Atom Developer Program. Presenting the Intel AppUp Center.

Web 17th Feb

11:00 – 12:00

Scott Apeland Interview. Scott to brief on latest news from IADP and the Intel AppUp Center.
Sascha and Steve to ask questions. Session to be streamed with live
chat. Questions can come from the chat session or floor.

Secondly, a big big sorry to all those that picked up on the meeting in the forums, registered their interest and then got pushed into a waiting list. We underestimated the response from the people we’ve worked with over the past year and ran out of space very quickly. For 2010, we’ve already identified a bigger venue and promise to make sure that we reserve space for the very important members of the mobile computing community.

JKK spent some time taking a few candid video shots which he’ll put together soon but in the meantime, here are a set of images from the evening. Note the very very interesting MiFi pocketable 3G router which was unanimously voted as gadget of the evening. Expect to see this within the next 8 weeks in Europe (Mobilx are working on a resale agreement with Novatell.) For more details, check out the video at JKKMobile

Happy mobile users, deep discussion, the Mifi and a range of devices helped to make the evening focused and enjoyable.

To be honest, i’ll be happy to get out of that library-like press room at CeBIT and hope that Hall 6 becomes the de-facto center point for bloggers, web2.0 and social media types.

We’ve booked a cellar room underneath a restaurant for the evening and we’ll be meeting with a number of people from the mobile computing industry for an informal get-together.

If you’ve already received an email, you’re already on the guest list, you’ve already got the detailed info and we look forward to seeing you there. If you haven’t received an email and you’d like to attend, send us an email (email not working) contact us with details and we’ll try and get you on the reserve list. We’d love to open it up to all-comers but we only have a small room booked.

We’ll provide the drinks but if you want to order food, an a-la-carte service is available.

If you have products or services that you’d like to show off, bring them along and set up a little demo. I’m sure everyone would love to see it. Note we’re going to try and set up a 3G hotspot and hotspot relay from the main restaurant but we can’t guarantee that it will be perfect!

If you want to make a formal 5-min presentation over the microphone, there will be a small charge of 50 Euro for a round of drinks.

Rather than scatter our content around under different banners, we decided to create a site that we can use to pull all our joint events together.

We’ve still got a lot of work to do here but over the coming weeks we’ll get the relevant content and links in place.

We start next week at CeBIT where we’ll be doing a lot of work together to get good content out. Expect joint podcasts, news from a MeetMobility event we’ve got planned with industry members and a lot of microblogs! See the sidebars on the site for the latest microblogs and podcasts info.
