  1. Hi guys. Enjoyed the podcast. Great summary. I think you guys should if somehow possible, but take calls also.

    Couple of my points.

About the M$ report that large decline of the Win Starter sales, ie netbooks. This is a red herring. Why? The premium 11 and 12 inch premium netbooks are for a lot us, just that. Netbooks. I don’t care about what was a netbook form factor. We can debate definition of netbook. To each his own. Fact? Yeah netbooks are dying right? Afterall where did the 7 inch and 9 inchers go? Bah. Netbooks evolved for most of us. Perhaps knowing too much is actually counter productive at some point. The marketplace is speaking.

Sadly I also must say to counter Sasha and his AMD plea, since when does netbooknews cover netbooks? Rather is “netbook” mentioned 1 word out of about 100 stories on your site?

I won’t rant too much here. Been there done that. In general for me, it’s a real letdown that the netbook category has evolved into some premium and less “entry” levels, but those covering them fail to adapt their categorization of netbooks. You guys want to get into “ultraportable” this when in fact, when you talk ultraportable you are TALKING ABOUT NETBOOKS. Sure sure 11 and 12 inch form factors can’t possible be netbooks. Ok, whatever.

My point is, this talk from M$ and others about the dying netbooks is overblown. It’s simply a matter of people not knowing their own definition of netbook. Afterall, what the hell is dying? The portable secondary laptops named… netbooks?
